Alkagesta said it took part in African Energy Week 2026 in Cape Town, where Rustam Mirzoev represented the company throughout the five-day event. In an account published on its website, the company linked its attendance to engagement with policymakers, investors and industry representatives involved in the development of Africa’s energy markets.
The company described its existing African activities as spanning energy and commodities, including the supply of petroleum products and fertiliser in West and East Africa. It presented the conference as an opportunity to strengthen relationships supporting its expanding operations on the continent, as well as to engage with those shaping investment and policy decisions across African energy markets.
According to Alkagesta, the programme brought together public- and private-sector participants, including energy industry leaders, international investors and policymakers. Its scope extended across oil and gas production, transport and processing, downstream businesses, renewable energy and energy services. Discussions considered Africa’s strategic standing amid geopolitical shifts, the investment needs of its energy markets and how to move projects from development plans into delivery across power generation, hydrocarbons and renewables.
Energy security was among the subjects covered, alongside Africa’s potential to become a strategic centre for growth in hydrocarbon activity, the company said. Other sessions examined financing for renewable energy development, efforts to revive onshore and previously developed assets, and opportunities to develop frontier basins. These themes formed part of the programme’s examination of both established energy resources and future development prospects across the continent.
Country-focused investment discussions covered Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. Alkagesta said those sessions offered insight into regional opportunities relevant to Africa’s next cycle of exploration and production. The company placed its participation within that wider discussion of investment, project development and relationships across African energy markets.
